SUTTON & JACKSON'S POINT
St. George’s Church – Sibbald’s Point:
Both Mazo de la Roche and Stephen Leacock have their final resting places there – and reports of having seen either their spirits or bright bouncing lights in the graveyard are commonplace. Local residents report that it’s not unusual to hear disembodied voices or see orbs and streaks of light in the early evening hours – which continue on into the wee hours. We have investigated the church and grounds a few times, and have definitely experienced interesting activity. Our Facebook page and website contain some interesting pictures which show anomalous activity. Have you had an experience there? Please share. (Hmmm…! We wonder whether anyone on the set of Murdoch Mysteries ever experienced anything odd while filming!) Briar Hill Cemetery:
The usual cemetery reports come into play here – lights, sounds, eerie shadows and ghostly apparitions. Is it the product of an overactive imagination?? Do spirits still linger there?? Have you seen anything here that you are at a loss to explain? De La Salle Beach:
The beach and neighbouring empty/vacant plot of land are rife with stories of bouncing lights and sightings of shadows on the beach. The GPS took two people (winners of a “draw” which took place at One Dark Night 2014) on an investigation of the site as well as of the tunnel which leads to the beach under the road – and we had some rather interesting experiences! We did capture mysterious orbs on our digital cameras as well as what appears to be an apparition of a little girl under a tree in the vacant lot. We held a “yes/no” session with our lanterns on the beach which yielded some pretty interesting results. Our Assistant Director noted that she felt as if the elementals and entities of that location were coming in on the water as we were holding the lantern session, but due to the external activity (cars, other people walking), they were discouraged from participating fully. The Georgina Pioneer Village & Archives:
What an extraordinary place this is! If you have never been there, we encourage you to go! Reports of strange experiences in the buildings at the Pioneer Village are quite interesting, and many people who either work there or who attend events there are “spooked” on a regular basis! The train station is definitely one of the most active locations on the grounds, and our flashlight session there in 2014 was epic, as was our flashlight session in front of The Noble House. It was in front of that house that one of the most interesting pictures of unexplained “mist activity” was caught and which can be seen on our website. As a matter of fact, during a picture taking session, one of our Executive members had a completely drained camera battery after only five minutes of picture taking – but a full battery upon leaving the immediate grounds and heading onward toward the next building. Strange? Yes. Strange, but not really that unusual. Some of the employees of the Civic Centre and of the Village have told us about having seen people in the houses which really shouldn’t have been there. One of the employees told us that her son wanted to see inside the Noble House window (the house was locked at the time), so she lifted him onto her shoulders and had him have a little look inside. Interestingly enough, he told her that there was a little girl inside, playing. Have you experienced something odd and exciting and spooky at the Pioneer Village? |
Lake Drive – East of Dalton Road:
Ghostly figures have been reported walking the road towards the entrance to the “healing waters of Lake Simcoe”. Near Kennedy Road, and near a plaque and entrance arch that tells of the popularity of Lake Simcoe as being a therapeutic place of rest and rejuvenation, residents have reported seeing what appear to be “walking lights” – perhaps souls who long to relive past days of languishing in the healing waters?? Have you experienced these lights? High Street, Sutton:
Throughout the years, reports of very tall, dark men in high top hats wandering High Street have been made. Some of these men are so tall, that they are able to look in on people in the top floors of their homes. Though most are seen walking along High Street itself, reports of such tall dark top-hatted figures have also been reported on Fairpark Lane as well as on Queen Street. Have you seen them? Do you know anyone who has? Hedge Road:
Strange but interesting report from a family who reside on Hedge Road near The Briars Resort came to light in the early 1990’s. Not every night, but on evenings when rather humid and “close”, the sound of a horse-drawn carriage could be heard by this family right outside their home. When they finally amassed the courage to look outside the window, they saw absolutely nothing….except for a very large pair of leather boots! These boots would pace in front of their door for a little while (perhaps 20 minutes), then disappear. They were thankful that the boots never materialized INSIDE their home; however, the sight of a pair of disembodied boots pacing in front of their door was, as you can imagine, quite unsettling. The Civic Centre & Civic Centre Road:
Technically, the Civic Centre may actually be a Keswick address; however, we are including it here because it lies right in between Keswick and Sutton proper – right next to the ROC and the Pioneer Village and Archives (an amazing place by the way!!!!). As a team, the GPS has investigated sightings of odd happenings on the grounds of the Civic Centre, things such as faces in the windows and lights in the labyrinth on the property. The site was a monastery “way back when”, the offices the little rooms which at one time were the sanctuaries of those whose mission in life it was to pray and dedicate themselves to the monastic life – so it’s not surprising that the entire Civic Centre seems very energetically charged and filled with residual energy. Conversations with those who work and have worked at the Civic Centre inevitably lead to “experiences” they’ve had while working there – things disappearing off desks, shadows out of the corner of the eye…not wanting to work alone at night….! We, too, have caught bright orb-like anomalies on our digital cameras and have seen flashlight sessions in the labyrinth which were quite extraordinary. |
